This Privacy Policy explains how Beijing Kemiyou Network Technology Co., Ltd. collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects personal information in connection with KomiU, including our mobile App, website, support, safety, account, chat, and paid token features.
1. Who we are
KomiU is operated by Beijing Kemiyou Network Technology Co., Ltd. (Chinese registered name: 北京科米优网络技术有限公司). Our mailing address is Room 1559, 1st Floor, No. 89 Shuixian West Road, Tongzhou District, Beijing, China. For privacy questions or requests, contact [email protected].
2. Age restriction
KomiU is intended for adults only. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the App. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children or teens under 18. If you believe a person under 18 has created an account, contact [email protected] or [email protected].
3. Information we collect
Account and login information
We collect account email, password credential metadata, verification code records, login status, session and token records, Apple or Google provider identifiers when you use those login options, and provider email snapshots when provided by the provider.
Profile and registration information
We collect information you provide for your profile, such as nickname, avatar, photos, gender, sexual orientation or match preference, birthday or age, location or city, school, work information, relationship status, interests, profile text, answers, and certification status or certification materials if you choose to submit them.
User content and communications
We collect content you create or send through KomiU, including public profile content, photos, chat text, images, video, audio, stickers or GIF-style media, feedback, reports, appeal content, and evidence attachments. KomiU messages are processed by our servers to provide delivery, sync, safety, reporting, and compliance functions.
Interactions and social activity
We collect information about likes, friend requests, friend relationships, profile views or visit records where enabled, blocks, reports, recommendation exposure, invite and sharing activity, and app activity signals.
Device, log, and security information
We collect IP address, device identifiers, device model, operating system, app version, language, platform, session records, API logs, MQTT connection records, security events, fraud and abuse signals, and diagnostic information needed to operate and secure the service.
Location and region information
We may collect the city or region you provide, region inferred from IP address, and, if you grant iOS location permission, approximate or precise device location for features such as nearby discovery, distance, city selection, recommendation relevance, and safety controls. We do not use continuous background location in the current service.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, we collect and use Apple Push Notification service device tokens, notification preferences, delivery metadata, and minimal notification content needed to send App notifications.
Payments and wallet information
If you buy tokens through Apple In-App Purchase, we process product, order, Apple transaction identifiers, signed transaction data, App account token, storefront or currency information, wallet balance, wallet ledger, fulfillment, refund and reversal records, and the policy versions accepted at purchase.
Safety, moderation, and governance information
We collect safety scores or risk signals, content review records, moderation decisions, reports, blocks, restrictions, public safety notices, appeal records, and evidence needed to investigate abuse, scams, harassment, policy violations, disputes, and legal obligations.
4. Sources of information
We collect information from you, your device, your use of KomiU, other users who interact with or report content, Apple and Google login or payment services, service providers, and records generated by our systems when operating and securing the service.
5. How we use information
- Create, authenticate, secure, and manage accounts.
- Provide profiles, recommendations, discovery, chat, blocking, reporting, safety tools, and user settings.
- Deliver messages, sync message history, recover from disconnections, and maintain chat reliability.
- Process token purchases, wallet balances, refunds, chargebacks, account deletion effects, audit records, and dispute records.
- Review public profile content, investigate reports, prevent fraud and scams, enforce policies, and protect users.
- Send service emails, verification codes, support responses, and optional notifications.
- Respond to privacy rights requests, legal requests, user support, appeals, and safety incidents.
- Improve, debug, monitor, and secure the service.
6. Sensitive information
KomiU is a social and dating-oriented service. Some profile information, photos, relationship preferences, sexual orientation or match preference, location, and messages may be sensitive. You choose what to provide in your profile. We use this information to provide profile, discovery, matching, chat, safety, and moderation features. You can edit or delete many profile fields in the App, but removing information may affect recommendations or service functionality.
We use sensitive personal information for the disclosed service, safety, security, legal, and user-requested purposes, and not to infer characteristics for unrelated advertising.
7. Legal bases where required
Where law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of our contract with you, your consent, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, and legal obligations. For sensitive information in jurisdictions that require explicit consent, we will request the required consent before offering the relevant service in that jurisdiction.
8. How we disclose information
We disclose information to service providers, platform providers, and other parties as described below and in our Third-Party Services and Sharing page.
- With other users, when your profile, messages, or interactions are part of the service experience.
- With Apple and Google when you use their login, App Store, payment, or notification services.
- With infrastructure, hosting, storage, email, and support providers that help us operate the service.
- With safety reviewers, professional advisors, law enforcement, courts, regulators, or rights holders when required or appropriate under law and policy.
- In connection with a business transaction such as merger, financing, restructuring, or transfer of assets, subject to appropriate safeguards.
9. Sale, sharing, and targeted advertising
We do not sell personal information and do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use third-party advertising, attribution, retargeting, data broker, or cross-app tracking SDKs in the current service. If this changes, we will update this Policy and provide legally required choices.
10. International processing
Our production databases and servers are hosted in the United States. Our company is organized in China. We restrict production personal data access from China and allow an exception only where required by applicable law and after documented legal review. We use service providers that may process data in the United States and other countries where they or their subprocessors operate.
11. Retention
We keep information for as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy, including to provide the service, keep records, resolve disputes, enforce policies, comply with law, and protect users. Examples include:
- Account and profile information is generally kept while your account is active and then deleted, anonymized, or restricted according to our account deletion process and legal requirements.
- Chat messages and media may be kept long term to provide message history, sync, safety review, report handling, dispute resolution, and legal compliance.
- Orders, Apple transactions, wallet ledgers, payment records, token fulfillment, refunds, and purchase policy snapshots are kept long term for accounting, audit, dispute, tax, refund, and legal purposes.
- Reports, safety records, moderation evidence, restrictions, appeal records, and fraud or abuse records may be kept long term to protect users, detect repeat violations, handle appeals, and comply with law.
- Backups and logs are deleted or overwritten on a schedule unless preserved for security, legal, or operational reasons.
12. Account deletion
You can request account deletion in the App. Account deletion includes a 24-hour cooling-off period. After deletion is completed, ordinary account access ends and account identifiers are released where supported. Some records may be retained or restricted for safety, accounting, dispute, audit, fraud prevention, legal compliance, and other legitimate purposes. See our Account and Data Deletion Policy.
13. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, know, correct, delete, export, object, restrict processing, withdraw consent, opt out of sale or sharing, or limit certain uses of sensitive personal information. See our Privacy Rights Request Policy or contact [email protected].
14. Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including authentication, access controls, least-privilege practices, logging, encryption in transit where appropriate, and vendor controls. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
15. Third-party services
Third-party services may have their own privacy practices. For example, Apple handles App Store purchases and certain refund processes, and Apple or Google handle their own account authentication services when you use those options.
16. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy. If changes are material, we may provide notice through the App, website, email, or another appropriate method. The updated version applies from its effective date.
